How I Help All My Couples as Their Wedding Planner

When people think about hiring a wedding planner, they quite often think about spreadsheets, timelines, supplier emails and someone telling them where everyone needs to stand.

And yes, there is a fair amount of that.

But honestly? That's not even close to being the best bit.

For me, being a wedding planner is about being the person in your corner throughout the whole thing.

The person you can message when you've suddenly realised you have absolutely no idea whether you need a registrar, a celebrant or both.

The person who can look at your Pinterest board full of 847 screenshots and somehow work out what you're actually trying to achieve.

The person who knows which suppliers are doing what, what you've already agreed, what still needs deciding and what can quite safely be ignored for another three weeks.

The person who can tell you when something genuinely matters and when you can stop worrying about it.

And, perhaps most importantly, the person who wants you to have a brilliant time doing this. I take on your vision, then be the voice for it so you don't have to.

Because planning your wedding should be exciting. It should be full of those moments where you stop and think oh my god, we're actually getting married.

It shouldn't feel like you've accidentally taken on another full-time job.

You don't just get a wedding planner. You get someone in your corner.

I genuinely care about my couples.

I know that probably sounds like something every wedding planner says, but I mean it.

When you work with me, I want to know what you're excited about, what you're worried about, what you're struggling with and what you absolutely cannot wait to see happen.

I want to know the weird little ideas you've had that you're not sure are possible.

I want to know why you've chosen that venue, why that particular song matters, why you want your dog involved, why you absolutely do not want a traditional first dance or why you've decided that everyone needs to eat pizza at 11pm.

Because those things are what make your wedding yours.

My job isn't to take over and turn it into my wedding.

It's to understand what you're trying to create and then help you actually make it happen.

wedding planner

You can talk to me. Properly.

One of the things I want my couples to know from the very beginning is that they can talk to me.

If something changes, tell me.

If you've had a mad idea at 11pm, tell me.

If you've fallen in love with a supplier I haven't recommended, brilliant, let's talk about them.

If you're suddenly worried that the whole thing isn't coming together how you imagined it, tell me.

And if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing, definitely tell me.

I'm generally an email-first person because I like keeping important things in writing, and I aim to reply within 48 hours. We can also use WhatsApp for quick questions, photos, setup shots and those little things that don't need a full email chain.

The point is that you don't have to sit there stewing over something because you don't know who to ask.

I'm there.

And if I don't know the answer immediately, I'll find it out.

I help you make decisions without making them for you

There is a big difference.

You're getting married, not hiring someone to organise a wedding on your behalf while you sit back and find out what happened afterwards.

I want you involved.

I want your opinions.

I want you to make the decisions that matter to you.

But I also know that sometimes you can reach a point where you've looked at so many options that your brain has simply stopped functioning.

Should we have round tables or long tables?

Do we need favours?

How much food do we actually need?

Does this timeline make sense?

What happens if it rains?

Where do the suppliers park?

When should the speeches happen?

Can we actually fit all of this into one day?

That's where I come in.

I can give you options, experience and honest advice. I can explain what I've seen work brilliantly and what I've seen go spectacularly wrong.

Then you decide.

My job is to make those decisions feel easier, not to make your wedding feel like a project managed by someone else.

I give you back your time

This is a huge part of what I do.

Wedding planning can eat time.

Not just big chunks of time, either. It's the constant little things.

The email you need to reply to.

The quote you need to compare.

The supplier you need to chase.

The seating plan you need to update.

The venue question you need to answer.

The payment you need to remember.

The spreadsheet you started three weeks ago and haven't opened since.

And then there's the mental load of constantly having all of those things rattling around in your head.

I can take some of that away.

I can liaise with suppliers. I can arrange meetings and calls. I can keep track of what's happening. I can help bring all the information together so that you don't have to remember every single moving part yourself.

And if you're feeling completely stuck or overwhelmed, you can book additional planning time with me too.

Sometimes you don't need another six months of planning support.

You just need someone to sit down with you for a couple of hours, work through the invitations, sort the timeline, talk through the seating plan and get you moving again.

Sometimes that's all it takes.

I become the person who knows your wedding

This is one of my favourite parts of the job.

By the time your wedding gets close, I should know your wedding almost as well as you do.

I know who your suppliers are.

I know what you've booked.

I know what you've decided.

I know what you're still unsure about.

I know which details are really important to you.

I know that your mum is absolutely not allowed to know about the surprise.

I know that your best mate needs to be kept away from the microphone after two glasses of Champagne.

I know that you want ten minutes alone together after the ceremony before everyone descends on you.

Those things matter.

Because when your wedding gets busy, you shouldn't have to keep explaining everything.

That's what your planner is there for.

The meetings aren't just meetings

I have a few key points throughout the planning process where we properly sit down and get into everything.

Around six months before the wedding, we'll have a catch-up, ideally with a venue walk-round, where we can start mapping out how the day is actually going to look and feel.

Then around two months before the wedding comes the Final Details Meeting.

This is the big one.

We go through your wedding weekend with a fine-tooth comb.

We talk timings, suppliers, guests, logistics, setup, access, personal details, what needs to happen and who needs to know about it.

By the end of it, we're building your Master Event Guide so that everyone who needs the information has it.

And then, about a month before, we move into those final communications and invoices, making sure suppliers and venues have everything they need.

It's not about creating paperwork for the sake of it.

It's about getting everything out of your head and into one place so that you can stop carrying it around.

Then I become your wedding PA

This is where things start to get really exciting.

As the wedding gets closer, I'll start liaising with your suppliers and helping bring everyone together.

Think of me as your wedding PA for the final month.

If a supplier needs a meeting, I'll help arrange it.

If someone needs information, I'll make sure they have it.

If something needs clarifying, I'll help sort it.

If there's a last-minute question that would otherwise land in your inbox, there's a very good chance it can come to me instead.

And that means you get to spend more of those final weeks doing the fun stuff.

Final outfit fittings.

Beauty appointments.

Hen and stag celebrations.

Dinner with your friends.

Getting ridiculously excited.

Maybe having a minor panic because you suddenly realise you're actually getting married.

All completely normal.

And much nicer than spending your evenings chasing suppliers.

The week before your wedding should feel exciting

I don't want you spending the final week before your wedding answering emails from suppliers.

I don't want you worrying about whether everyone knows where they're supposed to be.

I don't want you trying to remember whether you've told the venue about the extra meal.

And I definitely don't want you coordinating deliveries while you're supposed to be getting excited about marrying your favourite person.

This is where having someone who already knows the whole wedding makes such a difference.

I can step in, communicate with suppliers, answer questions and keep everything moving.

You're still involved where you want to be.

But you're not carrying the entire thing on your shoulders.

One of my couples described me as putting their minds at ease in the week before their wedding and being the middle person between them and the venue.

That's exactly what I want to be.

The day before, you hand it over

The day before the wedding, we'll meet at the venue for your handover.

This is when you can give me the personal and decorative bits that need to be set up.

The signage.

The stationery.

The little details.

The things you've spent months collecting, making, designing and getting excited about.

We'll reconfirm your numbers and guests, go through anything that needs discussing and make sure I'm completely up to speed.

And then?

You hand it over.

It's mine now.

Well, technically it's still your wedding.

But you know what I mean.

From that point, you shouldn't need to be thinking about how everything is going to happen.

I've got it.

wedding planner

And that's really what I think you're paying for

You're not just paying me to create a timeline.

You're not paying me to send emails.

You're not paying me to hold a clipboard on the wedding day.

You're paying for experience.

You're paying for someone who has seen the things that can go wrong and knows how to deal with them.

You're paying for someone who can look at 47 different moving parts and work out how they're all going to fit together.

You're paying for someone who will notice the thing you've forgotten.

You're paying for someone who can take a problem away from you before it becomes a problem.

You're paying for someone who genuinely wants your wedding to be brilliant.

And you're paying for headspace.

Because when all is said and done, I want you to remember your wedding for the right reasons.

Not the seating plan spreadsheet. Not the supplier email you were waiting for.

I want you to remember dancing until your feet hurt. Your best friend crying during the speeches. Your dad absolutely losing it on the dancefloor. That moment you looked around and realised all of your favourite people were in one room. The food your guests couldn't stop talking about afterwards. The ridiculous thing your mate did that nobody else will ever forget. The feeling of finally being married.

That's the bit I'm here to deliver.

wedding planner

Your wedding should still feel completely like you

There is absolutely no point in me planning a wedding that looks like every other wedding I've ever worked on. I don't want that and I don't think you want that either.

If you want traditional, brilliant. If you want colourful, brilliant. If you want elegant and understated, brilliant. If you want disco balls, tequila shots, a pizza van and a dog in a bow tie, also brilliant.

You do you.

My job is to take all of those ideas, personalities, priorities and slightly bonkers suggestions and help turn them into a wedding that makes sense. A wedding that feels like the two of you. And a wedding that you can actually enjoy.

So, what do my couples really get?

They get someone to talk to.

They get someone who listens.

They get someone who will tell them when something matters and when it really doesn't.

They get someone who can take a problem off their plate.

They get someone who will chase the supplier.

They get someone who will read the contract.

They get someone who will help untangle the timeline.

They get someone who will answer the question they were too embarrassed to ask.

They get someone who will be excited with them.

They get someone who will calm them down when they need calming down.

They get someone who will laugh with them when everything gets a bit ridiculous.

And when the wedding day arrives, they get to look at me and know:

I've got this. You go and get married.

Want to know what it's actually like to work with me?

If you're planning your wedding and you're wondering whether having a wedding planner would genuinely make a difference, come and have a chat with me.

You don't need to have everything figured out.

You don't need a Pinterest board.

You don't need a budget spreadsheet.

You don't even need to know exactly what kind of help you need yet.

That's what the conversation is for.

You can tell me what you're planning, what you're excited about, what's making you want to scream and what you absolutely don't want your wedding to feel like. We'll work it out from there.

And if you want to see what my couples have actually said about working with me, have a read of my Kind Words and my Google reviews.

Because I'd much rather you hear about the experience from the people who've actually been through it with me.

If you're ready to talk about your wedding, get in touch and let's have a chat.

I can't wait to hear what you're planning!
